Iman Daryaei

Iman DaryaeiI was born and raised in Iran where I received my B.Sc. degree in Applied Chemistry at the University of Tabriz and my 1st M.Sc. degree in Organic Chemistry at Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Research Center of Iran. My M.Sc. thesis focused on new methodologies in organic synthesis using principles of green chemistry in Dr. M. Ghaffaradeh’s laboratory. In 2009, I moved to US to pursue my 2nd M.Sc. degree in chemistry at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a focus on medicinal chemistry in Dr. M. Crider’s laboratory.

I was accepted for the Biological Chemistry Program at the University of Arizona in 2011. I am performing my research in Contrast Agent and Molecular Engineering Laboratory (CAMEL) under Dr. M. Pagel’s supervision. My research focuses on developing and evaluating new MRI contrast agents for the detection of cancer biomarkers such as enzymes. My interest in finding application for academic research compelled me to pursue a minor degree in the McGuire Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Arizona.

Hiking, biking, cultural activities and cooking Persian food are my hobbies.
